Volkswagen is readying to release the 2022 Golf R, which boasts 315 horsepower, a two-liter four-cylinder engine, a 4Motion all-wheel drive system, and 310 pound-feet of torque.
Sticking to Volkswagen tradition, the new model includes a six-speed stick transmission, along with a "seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox" that can be linked to steering wheel paddles for an additional cost. The 2022 Golf R also allows drivers to choose between an array of different settings to suit their preferences, including Comfort, Sport, Special Drift, Individual, and Race. The four-door car also includes Volkswagen's Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which allows for quick adjustments to electronic differential locks, the adaptive damping system, and more.
The 2022 Golf R is expected to launch in American dealerships late in 2021, and will be offered for a base price of $40,000.
