This period road test from Road & Track’s January 1979 issue features the 1979 Ford Mustang Turbo. In this article R&T editors fawn over the design of the new Ford Mustang Fox Body, but were a little less excited about the performance of the turbocharged 2.3-liter four. In the middle of the test, Ford engineer Jeff Ziegler came in to adjust the leaf springs on the Mustang Turbo, as they weren’t American-spec, which made the ride and handling much better.
