BaT Auction: 600-Mile 2019 McLaren Senna MSO “Merlin”

This 2019 McLaren Senna is one of 500 examples produced to commemorate driver Ayrton Senna’s success with the McLaren Formula 1 team from 1988 to 1993, during which Senna placed first in 35 races and won three Drivers’ Championship titles. The car utilizes a carbon-fiber monocoque and is finished in pearlescent MSO Sorcerer’s Black with gold accents over a matching interior, and Merlin-script accents reside on the wing endplates and headrests in addition to an airbrushed wizard depicting Merlin on the driver-side doorsill. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle. Other performance equipment includes active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, staggered-size center-locking wheels, a RaceActive Chassis Control II hydraulic suspension, adjustable driving modes, and driver aids. The car is also equipped with dual-zone climate control, Bowers & Wilkins audio, Bluetooth, navigation, and touchscreen infotainment. The vehicle was acquired new by the current owner and now shows just over 600 miles. This “Merlin” McLaren Senna is offered on dealership consignment in California with a copy of its window sticker, records for paint-protection work, two themed keys, and a clean Montana title under the owner’s LLC.

The Senna was designed under the direction of McLaren Automotive’s Rob Melville and utilizes the carmaker’s MonoCage III carbon-fiber monocoque platform for a minimum US-spec curb weight of 2,897 pounds with fluids and fuel. The coupe is capable of generating 1,764 pounds of downforce at 155 mph, and active aerodynamic bodywork helps maintain that level of downforce through to the car’s manufacturer-claimed top speed of 211 mph.
