BaT Auction: 37k-Mile 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS at No Reserve

This 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS is one of approximately 2k examples produced worldwide and was sold new at Centro Porsche Firenze in Italy. It was imported to Canada from France by the selling dealer in 2015 and was listed on BaT in June 2020. The car is finished in metallic silver over a black interior and is powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Features include a limited-slip differential, a seam-welded chassis, magnesium wheels, manual steering and windows, deleted rear seats and radio, and fixed-back Recaro front seats with multi-tone gray inserts. This 964 Carrera RS shows just under 60k kilometers (~37k miles) and is now offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a stamped service booklet, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Washington title.

The Carrera RS features a seam-welded chassis and an aluminum front trunk lid, along with side windows made of thinner glass than a standard 964. This example is finished in Polar Silver Metallic (L92E), and the bumper covers, mirrors, doors, and fenders were repainted during prior ownership, while the front trunk lid was refinished in 2020.

Magnesium 17″ Cup wheels are mounted with 2013 date-coded Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 205/50 up front and 255/40 out back. The Carrera RS’s ride height is lower than that of a standard 964, and it also features stiffer springs and adjustable anti-sway bars. A brake fluid flush was completed in March 2020.

The fixed-back Recaro seats feature harness pass-throughs and are upholstered in black with multi-tone gray inserts, while the door pulls and seatbelts are trimmed in red. The rear seats, electric windows, radio, and air conditioning were deleted on Carrera RS models.

The RS-branded four-spoke steering wheel frames a central tachometer, a 300-km/h speedometer, a clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows just under 60k kilometers (~37k miles), approximately 3k of were added since the car arrived in Canada from Paris, France, in 2015.

The 3.6-liter M64/03 flat-six was equipped from the factory with a lightened flywheel and was factory rated at 256 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque when new, an increase of nine horsepower and 11 lb-ft of torque over the standard 964 Carrera.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a G50 five-speed manual transaxle that features closer gear ratios, steel synchronizers, and an asymmetrical limited-slip differential. The clutch cylinders were replaced by J.B. Motorsports of British Columbia, Canada, in January 2017.
