BaT Auction: 23-Years-Owned 1995 Mazda RX-7 5-Speed

This 1995 Mazda RX-7 was first registered in Oklahoma before being acquired in 1998 by the seller, who has since added approximately 34k of 55k indicated miles. The car is finished in Vintage Red over tan leather, and power is provided by a turbocharged 1.3-liter Wankel rotary paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Modifications are said to consist of Apexi conical air filters, a Bonez stainless steel downpipe and catalytic converter assembly, a Racing Beat exhaust, a Fluidyne competition radiator, a GReddy boost gauge, and aftermarket toe links and trailing arms. Factory equipment includes 16″ alloy wheels, a power-operated sunroof, and air conditioning. The seller states recent service consisted of a compression test, an oil change, spark plug replacement, and brake fluid, coolant, transmission, and differential fluid services. This FD RX-7 is now offered with removed factory parts, a set of Hawk Performance brake pads, service records, manufacturer’s literature, memorabilia, a car cover, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Vintage Red Tri-Coat (NU) and features a power-operated sunroof, pop-up headlight, and fog lights. The front air dam was replaced under current ownership, and the seller states the factory air dam trim will be included in the sale. Factory 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in Pirelli tires, which were reportedly replaced in 2019 along with the spare. The brake fluid was most recently serviced in September 2020 and the seller notes the car is equipped with an aftermarket front strut tower bar, toe links, and trailing arms.

The seating surfaces are upholstered in tan leather with matching carpets and a contrasting black dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include air conditioning, a factory CD and cassette stereo, power windows, cruise control, and a GReddy boost gauge. The seller notes the CD player is non-functional and photos in the gallery below document wear on the driver’s seat surface and broken sun visor clips. The trunk-mounted subwoofer is non-functional.

A leather-wrapped airbag steering wheel frames a tachometer and a 180-mph speedometer. The digital odometer indicates 55k miles, approximately 34k of which were added by the seller.

The twin-turbocharged 1.3-liter 13B-REW rotary was factory-rated at 255 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque. Modifications are said to include Apexi conical air filters, a Bonez stainless steel downpipe and catalytic converter assembly, a Racing Beat exhaust, a Fluidyne Competition radiator, an Optima battery, and a metal air separator tank. The seller reports a compression test, oil change, coolant service, and replacement of the hood insulation pad and spark plugs were completed in September 2020, while the brake booster vacuum hardline and throttle cable were replaced in February 2021. The factory air filter housing and battery box will be included in the sale, and the seller states that the battery is due for replacement.
