BaT Auction: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R GT Factory Race Car by Pratt & Miller

This 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is one of seven C7.R GT factory racing cars constructed by Pratt & Miller Engineering for endurance competition in the IMSA Tudor United SportsCar Championship series. After participating in two seasons, chassis #C7RGT-003 accumulated ten top-five finishes, including class victories at the 53rd Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 63rd Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring. The car was also campaigned by Chevrolet at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 and 2015, and it later competed in the 2017 and 2019 HSR Classic 24 Hour at Daytona. Wearing its yellow and black livery from 2014–2015, the car is powered by a recently rebuilt 5.5-liter V8 paired with a six-speed sequential transaxle. Additional features include widened and lowered carbon-fiber bodywork as well a race-prepared cockpit, contemporary safety equipment, an AP Racing brake system, and 18″ BBS center-lock wheels. This C7.R race car was recently delivered from Pratt & Miller to the selling dealer for consignment, and it is now offered in California on a bill of sale with a dyno report, manufacturer documentation, and a spares package.

The C7.R was developed by General Motors and Pratt & Miller with carbon-fiber bodywork over an aluminum monocoque from the production version of the Corvette Z06. Seven cars were constructed by Pratt & Miller in New Hudson, Michigan, with each featuring widened wheel arches, a lowered roofline, and enhanced aerodynamics.

Chassis #C7RGT-003 is finished in the 2014–2015 livery of yellow and black with red accents and period racing decals. Exterior equipment includes an adjustable rear wing, functional lighting, front and rear tow hooks, side-exit exhaust pipes, external fuel fillers, and digital number plates in place of the rear quarter windows. The front splitter features a stepped turning vane that helps maintain downforce in conjunction with an underbody equipped with venturi tunnels and a rear diffuser.

Black 18″ center-lock BBS wheels measure 12.5″ wide in front and 13″ wide at the rear and are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport GT racing slicks. The suspension consists of fabricated steel upper and lower control arms with adjustable coilovers. Braking is managed by multi-piston calipers from AP Racing that are mounted over two-piece floating rotors at each corner.

The cockpit features an integrated roll cage and is equipped with a single Recaro racing seat, a safety harness, and a side-curtain net. Exposed carbon fiber trims the black dashboard and the composite door panels.

A Formula 1–style steering wheel is equipped with various driver inputs, including selectable traction-control levels and engine-management settings. Paddle shifters control gear selection and sit ahead of Bosch digital displays and LED rev indicators. The center console features an additional switch panel with a brake-bias control knob and other dials.

The front-mounted LS7-based V8 was developed for endurance racing and features a de-bored engine block that displaces approximately 5.5 liters. An overhaul is said to have been performed recently by Pratt & Miller. According to the included dyno report, peak output was recorded to be 575 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 509 lb-ft of torque at 5,700 rpm.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through an Xtrac six-speed sequential transaxle that is equipped with custom gearing, a limited-slip differential, and an independent cooling system.
