BaT Auction: 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 Roadster w/Le Mans Kit

This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 roadster is finished in red over a black and red interior and is powered by a 2,660cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission with an electric overdrive unit. The current owner purchased the car in 2005 and has added approximately 25k miles. The car has been modified with a 100M Le Mans conversion kit, and equipment includes a black folding soft top, a reclining windshield, a louvered bonnet, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, and twin SU carburetors. This BN2 roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean Oregon title in the current owner’s name.

The body was refinished in red during previous ownership and features a 100M-style louvered bonnet with a leather hold-down strap as well as a 100M-style adjustable reclining windshield. Additional equipment includes a black folding soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, and exposed chrome trunk hinges.

15″ knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in 165-series Michelin X Radial tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel hydraulic drums, and the car rides on an independent front suspension with coil springs along with a live rear axle with leaf springs.

The interior features black upholstery with red piping, black carpets, and a chrome passenger grab handle. The trunk is lined in patterned vinyl and houses a full-size spare tire with a leather hold-down strap.

The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. A Stewart-Warner ammeter is mounted on the right side of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 19k miles and is believed to have rolled over. The current owner added approximately 25k miles since 2005, and true mileage is unknown.

The 2,660cc inline-four features twin SU carburetors, and the chrome air cleaner housing wears a Le Mans Modification plaque.

The engine block tag is stamped 1B230171, the last six digits of which match the last six digits of the number on the serial number tag shown in the gallery.
