Yesterday we discussed the bold designs of European cars during the early 2000s. Todays Maserati Coupe GT originates from that era, but lacks the boldness that we associate with cars out of the same period. The milquetoast exterior of the Coupe GT can be partially attributed to the fact that it is itself a refreshed edition of the Maserati 3200 GT, abandoning the boomerang taillights that set the 3200 GT apart on the road. Evaluating the contemporary Ferrari 456 and 550, the designs for front-engined exotic Italian coupes at the time were pretty restrained in comparison to what was offered from Alfa Romeo and Fiat.
This Coupe GT features the 6-speed manual transmission that is a less common sight among Coupes. As a refresher, the GT moniker denotes the manual transmission option, but many listings seem to stumble on this naming convention, so when shopping for a manual example, it's a good idea to comb through the Cambiocorsa offerings to make sure that you don't miss out on any mislabeled GT cars.
Year: 2002 Model: Maserati Engine: 4.2L V8 Transmission: 6-speed manual Mileage: 26,363 mi Price: $28,500 Location: Indianapolis, IN
Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is proud to present this 2002 Maserati Coupe GT for sale! This Maserati has changed hands a few times, but it has been meticulously maintained and only driven 26,000 miles!
The Maserati Coupe is a grand tourer that was built from 2001 to 2007. Commonly referred to as the 4200 GT, this coupe has room for 4 people and is stacked with options! Under the hood, is the Ferrari built 4.2L V8 mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This is one of only 200 true manual transmission cars that were brought to the United States. The exterior of the car is painted in the Grigio beige color and the interior is wrapped in tan Italian leather. Options included on this Coupe are air conditioning, CD player, cruise control, power brakes, power steering, power locks, power seats, power windows, tilt wheel, traction control, power mirrors, and leather interior. Like mentioned before, this Maserati Coupe has been very well maintained throughout its life. That means it has a whole lot more to give to its next owner. It is a lot of fun to drive whether you are daily driving it or taking it on an occasional cruise around town
This is nearly a perfect spec in our opinion - a mid grey over beige with some black on the dash top and lower door panels. Judging by the Sport button on the console, this is a Skyhook car - superior in terms of performance, but a maintenance liability. With this low mileage, we would expect for the car to have plenty of life in it, though the common failure points - window regulators, heater core, ball joints - should all be discussed with the seller.
We think that the pricing on this Coupe GT might have something to do with a pair of very optimistically priced Coupes GTs currently languishing on eBay. If that's not the case, we might finally be seeing an appreciation for the Maser Coupes. Let's keep that up and hope for a dip and 456 prices, ok?
