When it comes to Alfa Romeo Milanos, the masses - i.e. those who do not count themselves among the Alfisti - generally remember the model by its kinked up belt line and Alfa V6. A few might be familiar with the torsion bar front and DeDion rear suspension setup, and the rear transaxle with inboard rear brakes. And some may even know the Verde model to be the top of the range.
Today's Alfa Romeo Milano Platinum sits right below the Verde in the Milano model range. I might disappoint the AlfaBB with my description here, but I believe that the Platinum is basically a Verde as far as options go, though mechanically there are some changes. The Platinums have smaller diameter torsion bars and sway bars, and forgo the 3.0L V6 in favor of the classic 2.5L. The transaxle is a 4.10 final drive in place of a 3.55 in the Verde, but the Platinum is the only Milano model, outside of the Verde, that offered a limited slip differential.

This Milano Platinum is an '87, I bought it in '91 from the original owner. He had it serviced from the selling dealer the entire time (warranty). It came with all paperwork. I've had the car ever since, always maintained. Basically, whatever the car needed, it got. I have a full service history from specialist shops. Car always stored out of the elements.
This car has been owned by the same owner since 1991, and it's been cared for properly. The seller claims to have stored it indoors for its entire life, and the interior would seem to corroborate that claim - a leather and suede interior just wouldn't last in sitting out in the LA sun all day. The seller lists a few issues with the car, none of which seems too severe to us.
We aren't sure where the bidding for this car will end up, but it should command a decent price. We think whoever buys the car will be very pleased with the condition. The remaining issues to address will help form the bond between owner and automobile, if the new owner is patient enough to address them on their own. We are adding a new tag to this car - "we would buy", because it's true. Look out for another Alfa with that tag in our post tomorrow!
