Hyundai has finally revealed its new i20 N hot hatch.
This two-tone scheme will be optional.
It rides 10 mm lower than the standard hatch.
Note the red accents.
Five drive modes are offered.
The front discs are 40 mm larger than those of the standard model.
Six-speed manual gearbox!
The new Hyundai i20 N has been revealed, with the fresh-faced hot hatch boasting 150 kW from its turbocharged 1,6-litre petrol heart.
Billed as a “racetrack-capable hot hatch inspired by the i20 WRC rally car”, the new model will go up against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo GTI and Ford Fiesta ST.
The turbocharged GDi engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, delivering peak power of 150 kW from 5 500 to 6 000 r/min and maximum torque of 275 N.m between 1 750 and 4 500 r/min. Tipping the scales at a claimed 1 190 kg, the Korean firm says the i20 N will complete the 0‑100 km/h sprint in 6,7 seconds before topping out at 230 km/h.
Hyundai says the manual gearbox has been “refined and reinforced” especially for the i20 N, and has gained a rev-matching function, too. The hot hatch can furthermore be equipped a mechanical limited slip differential. Under the so-called “N Grin Control System”, the hot hatch features five drive modes plus launch control.
Other “motorsport-inspired” features include an electric sound generator, variable exhaust control, a brake pad wear indicator and 215/40 R18 Pirelli P-Zero ultra-high-performance tyres.
Riding some 10 mm lower than the standard hatch and featuring fettled suspension, the i20 N gains a wide grille, a “WRC-inspired” roof spoiler, a single tailpipe and red exterior accents. Six exterior colours and an optional black roof will be available.
Inside, you’ll find model-specific sport seats (each with an integrated headrest) up front, an N steering wheel, an N gear knob and N pedals. The black interior features Performance Blue accents throughout plus black headlining.
