2021 Maserati Grecale teased, a new model to compete against Porsche’s Macan

Maserati has announced the name of its mid-sized sports luxury SUV will be Grecale, and a fully-electric version is coming.

The 2021 Maserati Grecale has been previewed by the Italian car company, providing the first official look at its upcoming mid-sized sports luxury SUV.

Sitting below the full-size Maserati Levante SUV, the new Maserati Grecale – named after "the fierce north-east wind of the Mediterranean Sea" – will share much of its architecture with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and will be a direct competitor to the Porsche Macan, BMW X3 M, and Mercedes-AMG GLC63.

It's expected the Grecale will be offered with the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 found in the Maserati MC20 supercar, unveiled earlier this week.

A fully-electric powertrain will also be coming, and like all future electric Maseratis, it will wear the Folgore badge – Italian for 'lightning'.
